6 Days Chogoria Sirimon Hike
Overview
The Chogoria route, which we consider the most beautiful climb to the summit area, is arguably the most famous among hikers due to its rich scenic views. It is the driest route up the mountain and the walk beside the Gorges Valley is truly spectacular. Once on the Sirimon Road, one passes beautiful forest tracks and completes the journey through the mountains.

The ascent of the mountain begins after breakfast and making the day’s requirements arrangements. This is an easy trek marked by lovely sceneries and landscapes to the Lake Ellis Campsite for the night stay at about 3600m. There is a lunch break by a crossing stream and views of the moorland and a beautiful view of the Mugi, Inthanguni, and Giant Billards.
The 3rd-day adventure begins after breakfast, with the first goal being to connect to the normal tourist trail on the Chogoria route at about 4100m. This connection trek is about 3 hours up through a mountain ridge. There’s a lunch break at a small crossing stream amid beautiful panoramic views of the gorges and valleys of northern Moorland. After Lunch, there’s a short hike of about an hour to the Minto’s huts area, where a night break is taken. The altitude at this point is about 4200m.
This is a day of ‘rock climbing’ as the trek ascends along the base of huge rock boulders. From the top, there is an extraordinary view of the mountain. It’s an elevation gain of about 500m from the Minto’s camp and it takes a couple of hours to reach the tooth col. From there it’s a traverse to the Austrian hut for dinner and overnight stay.
The summit attempt is always done before dawn, begins at about 5 am, and takes about 1 hour right on time to catch a beautiful sunrise from the top of the sky. Point Lenana, 4985m is the hikers’ summit. After sunrise, a gradual descent begins heading to Shipton camp for breakfast. This is followed by a slow lap of victory and celebration at Liki North camp which is about 3900m above sea level. This is an amazing trek filled with amazing scenery.
